just to be clear, I’m staying here as long as this site functions. I have 0 intentions of deleting this blog, I will go down with this ship if only to see exactly how bad it gets
Huh, love how that argue person skipped over the entire abortion isnt black and white and went straight to trying to play devils advocate by bringing emotion and opinion into it. Not every abortion is a willing loss of life and its very easy to argue when most people get abortions, nothing but them is sentient or conscious. Bringing that into the argument is the same as bringing personhood into it, completely irrelevant in the long run.
Thank you for your insights.
Abortion is murder. So much for your pro-choice bullshit.
I have no idea what this is even in response to since I am never on this app anymore and could not tell you the last time I posted anything about abortion.
However, I recognize I am not going to change your mind since you believe abortion is murder, which tends to be the fundamental difference between pro-life and pro-choice stances. But let’s say, for fun, you actually want to engage in an intelligent conversation.
If we look at the definition of murder, it is defined as “the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another.” Unlawful means illegal, and abortion is not currently illegal in the United States, nor many places around the globe.
Abortion, in the sense that you are likely thinking of, elective abortion, refers to the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, typically resulting in the death of an embryo/fetus. However, from a medical standpoint an abortion is the loss of pregnancy. Thus, a miscarriage is an abortion. If the fetus dies in utero and a D&C is performed, that is also an abortion.
Abortion is not a black and white topic, as so many people make it seem. Individuals who are pro-life tend to be against elective abortions, but making all abortions illegal (which, side note, does not reduce abortion rates, it only reduces access to safe abortions) would not only impact those seeking elective abortions, but also impact situations such as D&Cs, or when the parent’s life is in danger.
If we really want to reduce abortion rates, we need to do the things that are proven to be effective - comprehensive sex education, increased access to birth control, affordable healthcare, etc. Engaging in preventative care is the way to reduce abortion rates, not making them illegal.
